Prep
St. Michael’s College offers a well-established, high-quality Prep program intentionally designed around the developmental needs of our youngest learners. Grounded in the Science of Reading and Writing, our Prep curriculum incorporates a rich foundation in literacy and numeracy to set the benchmark for lifelong academic growth. We proactively plan for the diverse learning journeys of all students from day one through the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
To bring this inclusive vision to life, each Prep classroom is supported by a full-time Educational Assistant, enabling a continuous, highly effective cycle of Tier 1 and Tier 2 instruction. Through regular universal screening and ongoing formative monitoring, our Prep team precisely evaluates student progress to design flexible, targeted small groups. This allows us to manage cognitive load and target exact learning needs - whether providing timely intervention or extension work.
As the initial year of entry to St. Michael’s College, our child-centred Prep program provides an essential, supportive transition from early childhood environments to the Primary curriculum. It is characterised by exciting, stimulating, and play-rich learning experiences that foster creativity and a lifelong love for learning, ensuring every child experiences "Wisdom Through Growth" from the very start of their St. Michael’s College journey.
