Term 3 Week 6 2020

From the Deputy Principal

AWARDS FOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Welcome back to Term 3!  What a crazy year we have had so far. In an attempt to gain some normality into our College routine, we have commenced presentation of certificates, awarded to students for a range of achievements. These certificates will be awarded to students each fortnight in their classrooms, so as to adhere to our social distancing requirements.

Mr Allom will be presenting Years 4 to 6 and I will be presenting Prep to Year 3.  Included are some of our wonderful students who have been presented with certificates this fortnight.  So, keep an eye out for your child’s special achievement.

HEARING TESTS FOR PREPS

The results of the Hearing Screens done at the College have been finalised and sent home with your child. Please remember to follow up with an Audiologist if there were any discrepancies found in the test. Early intervention is crucial for success in the future.

LOST PROPERTY

If your child has misplaced an item, please check the Lost Property Box in the undercover area of the Admin building.  Please ensure that you clearly name all your child’s belongings. If your child’s name is on an item of clothing, you will have a better chance of it being returned to your child’s class teacher.

JEANS FOR GENES DAY 2020

Jeans for Genes Day 2020 was held on Friday, 7th August. Students at the College participated in this event to raise awareness of children’s genetic diseases. This is a national event which supports the Children's Medical Research Institute. If you would like to Donate to this cause, you can find the link here

Yr 4's visit to Aussie World

It's safe to say Aussie World was worth the wait! Although Year 4 had to hold off a couple of weeks until they were allowed to go (due to poor weather) the students and teachers all loved it.

The students even had their very own area of the park! Which meant they could go on the rides more than once! Students were reminded about one very important piece of information, take note of how the rides work and most importantly, have fun!

After chatting with the group the big attractions were:

  • The Redback
  • The Plunge
  • The Wasp
  • Professor Bogglesworth's Illusionarium
  • Bugrun

All students left with some great ideas on how to implement the different types of forces into their very own rides, which they are designing and building as part of our Technology unit.

It was another great day out and once again, students were complemented on their behavior and manners.

Road Safety Week is 23– 28 August 2020.
