Sue Weymouth
Director
St. Michael's College Early Learning Centre and Outside School Hours Care

I am incredibly proud to lead the dedicated team of educators at St. Michael’s College Early Learning Centre and Outside School Hours Care. Our commitment to excellence was recently recognised by the State Regulatory Authority during our assessment against the National Quality Standard (NQS). I am delighted to share that in 2026 our service was officially awarded an ‘Exceeding’ rating across all seven Quality Areas. This achievement is a testament to the high standard of care and education we provide our community every day.

My journey into early childhood education began following a successful career in HR and finance. After the birth of my children, I felt a strong calling toward this vital sector and embarked on a career change I have never regretted. With decades of experience spanning both New Zealand and Australia, I have seen firsthand how the early years serve as the essential foundation for a child’s future.

I am passionate about fostering an environment that is deeply nurturing and responsive to the individual needs of every family. My team and I operate on the philosophy that children thrive when they feel safe, secure, and are purposefully challenged by intentional learning experiences.

As a leader, I view myself as a lifelong learner. Beyond my Diploma, I am constantly researching and engaging with the latest pedagogical theories to ensure our practice remains at the forefront of the industry. I warmly invite you to visit us, tour our beautiful centre, and see how our "Exceeding" standards translate into a wonderful experience for your child.

Amie Coleman
Educational Leader and Assistant Director
St. Michael’s College Early Learning Centre and Outside School Hours Care

My name is Amie Coleman and I am the Educational Leader and Assistant Director at St. Michael’s College Early Learning Centre.  I have been working in early childhood education and care for over 23 years, and I continue to feel incredibly privileged to be part of children’s learning journeys. Supporting children in these early years and knowing the impact this can have across their lifetime is something I am deeply passionate about.

In my role, I particularly value supporting and mentoring our educators. Working alongside the team, engaging in reflective practice, and contributing to the development of high-quality learning environments is a part of my work that I find both meaningful and inspiring. I am continually motivated by the dedication and professionalism of our educators and the important work they do each day.

I have a strong interest in early brain development and the critical role that relationships and environments play in shaping children’s outcomes. The brain develops more in the first five years of life than at any other time, which highlights the significant responsibility we share as educators and families to provide children with the best possible start.

I believe that children are capable, competent learners who should be actively involved in their own learning. Fostering a strong sense of agency, listening to children’s voices, and supporting them to develop as kind, respectful, and connected members of their community are central to my philosophy.

The sense of community at St. Michael’s is something I value deeply. Building strong, respectful partnerships with families is at the heart of our work, and we are committed to creating an environment where every child and family feels a genuine sense of belonging.

I look forward to connecting with you and welcoming you into our community.
